The shortlist of finalists for The Sunday Times and Sky Sports Sportswomen of the Year Awards 2014 has been confirmed – and the British public has the opportunity to vote for the leading female sports team of this year.
As a founding member of the Awards the Alliance is delighted to highlight and celebrate the fantastic achievements of the UK's sportswomen over the past 12 months.
Now in their 27th year, the awards celebrate the outstanding contribution to sport made by elite performers, coaches, administrators, community volunteers and inspirational female figures.
On the evening of Wednesday 19 November the awards will be broadcast live on Sky Sports for the second successive year.
The general public can get involved in the awards from today by voting online for their Team of the Year. A four-team shortlist has been drawn up to celebrate the achievements of Britain’s successful collective efforts including England cricket team, England rugby union team, Great Britain’s 4 x 100m athletics relay squad and rowers Helen Glover and Heather Stanning.
The Sportswomen of the Year Awards are also supported by the Sunday Times Wine Club, UK Sport, Sport England and the Women’s Sport and Fitness Foundation.
