The Sport and Recreation Alliance's Community Sport and Recreation Awards were held yesterday at the Royal Institution of Great Britain, hosted by the Alliance’s President HRH the Earl of Wessex.
The Community Sport and Recreation Awards have been running for more than 20 years, showcasing the sport and recreation organisations performing excellent work in their local communities.
After judging nearly 200 nominations, seven worthy winners emerged.
This year there were seven categories of awards all designed to highlight the breadth of work that is undertaken in the community sport and recreation sector. This winners of the 2015 awards are:
A commendation was also awarded to Deer Park Archers & Snow-Camp.

Commenting on the awards, Emma Boggis, Chief Executive of the Sport and Recreation Alliance, said:
“The Community Sport and Recreation Awards highlight the incredible work that is going on at the grassroots level.
“From encouraging young volunteers, enthusing those with special needs, to ensuring everybody has access to sport and recreation activities, this celebration of local clubs reminds us of their importance to their local communities.”
Also honoured at the awards was the 2014 Glasgow Commonwealth Games and the Chair of the organisisng committee, as they received the prestigious Arthur Bell trophy for the Games impact on the city and wider effect on sports participation in Scotland.
Hilary Weedon, Philip Kimberley and Allan Dean-Lewis MBE were also awarded Emeritus Awards.

This Black History Month, the Sport and Recreation Alliance sought to celebrate the significant contributions Black individuals have made and continue to make to grassroots sport and recreation by engaging with leaders throughout the sports sector.
