Nominations are now being taken for the Arthur Bell Trophy and the Emeritus Award, presented at the Sport and Recreation Alliance’s Annual General Meeting.

The Emeritus Award has been in existence for over ten years and is awarded for life-long or sustained service to sport and recreation or for long service to the Alliance. Last year this was presented to Sir Hugh Robertson KCMG MP, Cedric Selby [Honorary Member] and Professor Peter Thomas MBE [Vice President] and other recipients have included Dame Diana Ellis, [British Rowing], Brian Lee JP [Honorary Member] and Dame Mary Peters CH DBE.

The Arthur Bell Trophy, presented to CCPR by the [then] Chairman of Bell’s Scotch Whisky during the celebrations of the CCPR’s Golden Jubilee in 1985, is presented each year to the individual or organisation that is deemed to have made an outstanding contribution to the development of community sport. Last year the Trophy was presented to Baroness Tanni Grey-Thompson and other recipients have included Baroness Sue Campbell CBE, Sir Bobby Charlton CBE, Lord Sebastian Coe CH KBE, HRH The Duke of Edinburgh KG KT and Sir Trevor Brooking CBE.

In line with its Equality and Diversity Policy, the Alliance would welcome nominations from all sections of the community.

Please note that, unless you are an Honorary Member of the Sport and Recreation Alliance, your nomination will need endorsement by your National Governing Body (or equivalent) and we shall contact the relevant person within the organisation upon receipt of your nomination. If you are an Honorary Member, you may submit a nomination without the need for this endorsement.

Nominations are open until 5pm on Friday17 April 2015.
