A new online resource to help and enable schools to open and share their sports facilities with the wider community was launched this week.
Use Our School has been created by Sport England as a portal where schools can find practical guidance, tools and templates that will allow them to collaborate with their local community stakeholders and offer their facilities for use to a larger demographic.
“We know what an important role schools play in their local community and we want to actively support those schools who already open up their facilities for community use and those who are considering doing so,” says Jayne Molyneux, Strategic Lead Youth at Sport England.
“Schools make an important contribution to participation in sport, with 39 per cent of sporting facilities in England currently on school sites and 62 per cent of these open for their local community. We hope that this exciting new resource will enable more people to access sport and physical activity in their community.”
