Dave has been at the forefront of recreational boating activity for almost a decade, having recently been appointed Interim CEO of the Royal Yachting Association, a role he assumed alongside his role as Finance Director at the organisation, which he has held since 2012.
Prior to this, Dave worked at the British Judo Association, managing the finance, IT and membership departments as a Financial Controller.
Speaking of his appointment, Dave said: “I am incredibly proud to be appointed as a Director of the Sport and Recreation Alliance at a pivotal time not only for the sector but for the nation as a whole.
“In my time working for both the Royal Yachting Association and the British Judo Association I have grown to understand the power of the sector, its ability to improve the health and mood of the nation, and I have also seen the strength of organisations working together to increase their impact and their performance.
“The Alliance is a fantastic illustration of how we can be stronger together and I look forward to utilising my National Governing Body experience as well as my professional skills and knowledge to continue to help the Alliance excel.”
Andrew Moss, Chair of the Alliance, has welcomed Dave to the Board and believes that his financial expertise and passion for activity will add a new dimension to the Alliance’s work with the wider sector.
“We are pleased to officially confirm the appointment of Dave to our Board. One of the most significant challenges facing the sector at the moment is financial security and Dave’s extensive knowledge and experience in this area will help us to support the sector as best as we can to bounce back from Covid-19.
“Dave will be an enormous asset to our organisation and we very much look forward to working with him as we continue to drive the ambitions of our new strategy.”
Dave started his role with the Alliance as an Appointed Director following our AGM on 12 October and will serve a four-year term.
This Black History Month, the Sport and Recreation Alliance sought to celebrate the significant contributions Black individuals have made and continue to make to grassroots sport and recreation by engaging with leaders throughout the sports sector.
