I truly believe that the power of sport and recreation can change lives and develop people. My own experience shows the possibilities and the opportunities which sport and recreation can provide. And I want more people to experience this – it has truly been my passion, my work and my life.
I have had the privilege to work alongside many of you during my time at Sport England and have been honoured to hold various positions at England Netball, CIMPSA, Volleyball England, Swim England, British Basketball and the British Olympic Association. I am also a trustee at Samworth Brothers Sports Opportunity Fund, a family food business funding deserving community sport programmes.
The Alliance membership has a wonderful breadth of organisations and I look forward to developing my understanding about each of you and importantly learning what you need so we can support you.
The mission of the Alliance is clear, to create an active nation through sport and recreation. Our values underpin this vision and will continue to drive progression.
I am passionate about the opportunity to think differently, to be bolder and to be bigger. We can’t achieve this alone and working together across the sector, with government and with each other is a must.
Please let me know if you have any events or opportunities for me to come along and meet with you to discuss how we can best support you. Just drop a line to Kate Lawrenson.
There are also other chances for me to meet with you over the coming months, starting with our Summer Reception at the Houses of Parliament on 26 June.
I look forward to working with you all to create an active nation.
Lisa Wainwright,
CEO
